Choosing the right LED fluorescent replacement tubes can present quite a challenge. At HH Fluorescent and LED Products, we can provide you with advice on the optimal choice for your specific application. We provide various types of fluorescent lighting products as well as LED sockets, T12 sockets, T8 sockets, and fluorescent socket replacement options that meet specific lighting device requirements.
Determine the Installation Method
A critical step in choosing the product that matches your application is determining the installation method you need to use. The method of installation will correspond to the type of fixture involved – whether a T12 or T8 socket.
To evaluate the existing installation, remove the bulb from the fixture and look for markings provided on the end. These will give you important information and may help you determine if it is a T8 or T12.
If you find no markings, you can determine the size and diameter of the tube based on the type you currently have installed.
T8 tubes are 1 inch diameter and T12 tubes are ½ inch diameter. Anything smaller, such as 5/8, inch means you have a T5.
Determine the Type of Ballast
Once you have identified the type of tube you have, the next step is to determine the type of ballast. Generally, T8 uses electronic ballasts and T12 uses magnetic ballasts. You can discover the type of ballast by opening the fixture. Magnetic ballasts tend to be used with older fixtures.
Multiple replacement options are given below:
